Armalaser is one of the pioneers in the under-barrel laser mounts that are easily installed and blend nicely into the lines of the gun.
Author Duane A. Daiker describes the advantages of the Armalaser mounting system in his article “Armalaser” at USConcealedCarry.com:
“Once in place, this rugged little unit is strongly attached, and seems like a part of the gun. The added weight is minimal and the gun handling characteristics are unchanged.” (Read more at USConcealedCarry.com)
The operational aspect of the Armalaser is fairly simple. There is a touch-sensitive electrical contact on the back of the unit near the trigger apparatus. The laser remains lit as long as there is a contact point and then turns itself off after 12 seconds of inactivity. The Armalaser generates a steady red beacon with no drop-off or pulsing. In addition, an Allen wrench is provided that allows the shooter to fine tune the beam for wind speed and direction.
There is virtually no learning curve with the Armalaser as it handles instinctively with the gun. The laser light retains its intensity through normal combat ranges up to about 30 feet.
In low-light situations, where gun sights are ineffective or impractical, an Armalaser unit ups the survival odds in a tactical self-defense scenario. If there is a con to using the Armalaser, it would be the amount of space it uses inside the trigger guard. The trigger finger is slightly crowded and it may take a little time to get used to the new feel of the trigger pull with the laser unit attached.
Naturally, many other companies are jumping on the laser bandwagon and Armalaser is constantly increasing the number of firearms that are compatible with its units. Armalaser is also competitively priced, with units starting around $139. Holsters custom-designed for the laser units are also available at retail outlets or online.
