Concealed Carry Weapons and the First Law of Nature
Some animals have excellent camouflage and hide as their primary defense.
Others can run or fly from danger.
Some have sharp teeth or claws with which to defend themselves.
Skunks spray attackers and porcupines have spines to thwart their enemies.
Man does not have these tools, but he has his brain and therefore created advanced weapons in order to follow that first law of nature. By owning a handgun and getting a concealed carry permit, you are following the law of self-preservation. However, if you stop there, you are being lazy.
You must actually carry your weapon with you.
Dr. Bruce Eimer, hypnotherapist and licensed clinical psychologist, writes about how carrying concealed is the ultimate tool for man’s self-preservation in his article, “’Sloth’: One of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins” on USConcealedcarry.com. Here is an excerpt:
“It makes sense to go armed. It makes no sense to ever go unarmed and unprotected. Even the great animal predators; the African lion, King of the African Plains, and the great grizzly bear of America’s Northwest, instinctively know that armed men are dangerous to their (predator’s) survival. It makes sense to own firearms and to carry a concealed firearm whenever we are out and about. (Read more about how your concealed carry weapons can save your life here)”
As much as we have car insurance in case of an accident, it is Dr. Eimer’s point that we should all have our concealed carry permit and carry our weapon so we have it in the event that we need it.
There are sociopaths and criminals around us, who do have illegal weapons and are not afraid to use them. How would you best be prepared to defend yourself and ensure your survival in the event of an attack?
Don’t become complacent or lazy and leave your handgun at home—it could turn out to be the very day you need it most. Instead, choose a handgun that you can comfortably carry at all times. This might mean you need to have a variety of weapons and holsters for different scenarios, and you might need to have more than one CCW permit if you travel around the country.
By carrying a concealed weapon, you are following a basic human instinct -- self-preservation.
