Unfortunately, such a perfect combination doesn’t exist yet, but there are many small handguns out there that are easy to carry and conceal even if they don’t have much horsepower.
The .22 caliber is a commonly available round and is found in many rifles and handguns.
Being such a small round, it’s possible to load it into a pistol that is downright tiny.
Author George Hill talks about one such model in his article “North American Arms .22LR Mini Revolver” on USConcealedcarry.com:
“NAA makes several different products, but the .22LR Mini is their number one seller. There is a good reason for that. It’s a dandy little shooter. Consider it as an addition to your arsenal, but not as a primary carry gun, unless you work as a lifeguard on Baywatch.” (Read more at USConcealedCarry.com)
If you’re dressed in such a way that most other handguns would be visible, you could probably find a place to hide a gun like a .22 Mini. In fact, some women who carry concealed report that they are able to comfortably hide a mini inside their bra and don’t even notice it’s there.
These little pistols do have an ear popping “snap” when they are fired that is sure to get anyone’s attention. This can be a psychological advantage if nothing else, but again, it shouldn’t be relied upon as a primary defense mechanism.
If the only firearm you’re carrying is one of these tiny .22 pistols, having a backup means of defense such as pepper spray or a tactical knife is essential.
Guns are fun to own and the .22 Mini is no exception. They are something of a novelty and not everyone has one. If you decide to buy a Mini, make sure to bring plenty of ammo to the firing range because it’s almost certain that several of your friends will want to test it out.
