More and more women are carrying concealed weapons, but unlike men, most want a secure way to carry their firearms, but also to be able to quickly retrieve them if a situation occurs. Yes, there are purses with gun pockets, but some women don’t feel that’s good enough. Either that, or they don’t carry a purse with them at all.
A good alternative is a FlashBang holster that secures to most bras on the front, smack dab in the middle. You may have seen one in action in an episode of NCIS: LA last year. Created by Lisa Looper, an Oklahoma City mother of three children, the FlashBang holster was something the former manicurist never thought she’d create. Yet when she married her husband, Bart, they took over the family business -- Looper Leather, which made and sold holsters. So she decided that if she was going to be in the business, she wanted a holster that would fit her needs.
While you would think it would be difficult to get to your firearm quickly, in a YouTube video, Looper showing how the FlashBang holster works in less than 30 seconds. And it works with just about any kind of shirt imaginable, though it’s not good for dresses or sports bras. It is cost efficient, at under $100 and some cost as little as $40.
Still a fairly new product (it debuted in 2011), the FlashBang holster just may be right for you. Kathy Jackson loves this holster and explains how it works:
“By suspending a Kydex body from the center point of the bra and tucking partially beneath the bra’s underwire, the FlashBang women’s holster allows women to conceal a firearm on-body without requiring a heavy belt or a loose cover garment. Designed to be worn with tiny, flat firearms such as the Ruger LCP or the Kahr P3AT, or with the smallest and lightest J-frame revolvers, the holster conceals shockingly well and provides excellent security.” (Read more about this concealed carry holster here.)
Although limited to smaller firearms, the FlashBang holster is definitely worth a shot (no pun intended) and weighs less than two pounds.
